Packaging/Contents - Score = 5/5
I placed an order for the Freedom Starter kit on a Thursday afternoon and took delivery of my order on the Monday – nice and fast! The item was well packaged in a padded envelope and arrived in perfect condition. I received with my Starter Kit the following contents:
1 x Freedom Travel Case
1 x Freedom Charging Case
1 x Cartridge Sample Sleeve (5 cartridges – various flavours)
2 x Freedom Cig Batteries
1 x USB Charging Cable
1 x Mains Adapter Plug
1 x Car Charger Plug
The Travel Case is essentially a large outer box which can easily transport all contents of the kit wherever you go. Upon opening the Travel Case you are presented with the sleek looking Charger Case (this looks like a real cigarette packet). The Charger Case allows you to carry one fully assembled electronic cigarette, charge your spare battery and carry a further 3 flavour cartridges. This is the great thing about SKYCIG as there is very little chance that you will run out of power in both the batteries and the case and be stuck without a smoke. Underneath the Charger Case you can find the USB Cable, Mains Adapter Plug, Car Charger and Cartridge Sample Flavours Sleeve.
Very impressed so far!
As previously mentioned with this starter kit you receive a Cartridge Sample Sleeve that contains 5 sample cartridges of flavours they produce. I gave them all a try and of course tried to keep an open mind for this review. Everyone’s tastes are different so my views shouldn’t be taken as gospel but I have given as honest opinion as possible. The Menthol is fresh and very similar to that of real Menthol, but doesn’t feel like such a strong hit. Cherry was the same story, the hit in the throat was not quit there but taste was great and much better than I expected for Cherry!
The remaining three cartridges are different variations of Tobacco. The Tobacco Gold, which was my personal favourite. It was very smooth, a good hit and not a million miles away from real cigarette tastes of the lighter brands. Classic Tobacco and Crown Tobacco are both very similar. They are both strong tasting with a good throat hit. The Classic Tobacco is the closest taste to a real cigarette although no matter how many e-cigs you try you will never get the exact same taste which is probably not a bad thing. The Crown Tobacco left a bit of a coffee aftertaste so I wasn’t a fan. I do like coffee but this is a bit of a bad aftertaste. When trying new flavours, some that you may have never associated with smoking before try to keep an open mind and stick with it and you will be thankful that you did!
So all in all the Vapour and Drag is pretty good considering the size of the battery as notoriously an e-cig that looks like the real thing struggles to perform. Their cartomisers cost £10.95 per pack of 5 with discounts for multiple purchases. Their website boasts that their cartomisers last for up to 250 drags but in my experience it may be a bit lower than that. Based on that fact I would say that due to the price of the cartomisers they are not the best value for money to refill but not the worst either.
In the kit you receive 2 batteries as standard which means you can charge one while using another to ensure you are never caught short of power.
The charging process is different to that of other brands like Green Smoke and E-Lites. With SKYCIG you charge the actual cigarette case through USB or Wall Adapter which when charged enables you to charge your e-cig battery in the case whilst on the move. This is a definite plus point over the E-Lites and Green Smoke in that you can give your battery a charge whilst your out and about without the need to plug it into a main power source. The likelihood of running out of battery whilst out and about lessens with this great way of charging. The great thing about the SKYCIG batteries is the sizes, out of all the brands reviewed so far they are the closest in terms of size, look and feel to that of a real cigarette which I like very much.
The battery is responsive and produces a decent amount of vapour for the size. The tip light is blue. According to the website they are lithium ion batteries that will last for about 1 hour (constant use) when fully charged and remember the battery only activates when you take a drag.
Because I did not have any issues with the product or delivery it was going to be hard to successfully test their customer service levels. I decided to contact them with a made up problem. I phoned them and got through straight away. The person on the phone was extremely pleasant and although I asked a few idiotic questions they never grew impatient or condescending and helped me all the way. I was very pleased as this is something they pride themselves on throughout their website so good to see it backed up.
They currently offer a 30 day “No Questions Asked” money back guarantee if you are not completely happy with your electronic cigarette starter kit for any reason. Sound good? Maybe but please bear in mind things like a “£15 processing and restocking fee”. So if you are buying the SKYCIG to give it a try and hoping to get all your money back you may be disappointed.
They also have a limited 30 day and 1 year warranty on different parts. All details can be found in full on their website.
On the whole, SKYCIG doesn’t disappoint and through experimentation of flavours I am confident you can find the right hit, strength and flavour to get the best smoking experience possible. If you want an E-cig that looks and feels like a real cig that you can charge on the move then this is the product for you.
I have got to say that SKYCIG is a decent product for beginners, because even though they only have a small offering they really do try and focus on making what they do have a good product. It’s not perfect by any means and their is room for improvement but for those looking for somewhere to start that’s not too complicated or expensive it’s serves its purpose. The vapour volume is good across the range of flavours and the e-cigarette charger case is quality.
